About The Position

American Track, a member of North American Rail Solutions (NARS), is seeking an experienced Area Manager to lead sales and operational efforts in their assigned region. This leadership role is crucial for all aspects of the organization, including safety, productivity, and the effectiveness of sales, administrative, and operational functions. The ideal candidate will possess strong operational expertise, the ability to work autonomously, and a proven track record of leading teams to profitability and achieving key performance metrics.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Minimum 5+ years in railroad operational or sales leadership
  • Minimum 3+ years in P&L management and budgeting
  • Qualified on FRA Title 49 Part 213 and Part 214 track safety standards
  • Ensure compliance with all company, customer, and FRA rules/policies
  • Knowledge of rail maintenance and/or commercial construction operations
  • Ability to read/interpret engineering drawings, right-of-way maps, and construction plans
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Organized with attention to detail
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with others
  • Ability to work in fluid environments, highly flexible and able to set/adjust priorities with market needs
  • Excellent planning and time management abilities
  • Ability to multitask effectively
  • Valid State Driver’s License

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Civil/Construction Engineering, Marketing or related field or equivalent work experience

Responsibilities

  • Ensure staff conduct work safely, efficiently, and responsibly, adhering to federal, local, and company guidelines.
  • Manage the execution of all operations within the assigned area, including inspections, repair, and construction of tracks, signals, and roadbeds.
  • Prepare annual budgets, set financial goals, and establish sales targets with senior leadership.
  • Analyze monthly KPI reporting and coordinate with staff on any discrepancies.
  • Prepare and report results regarding activity, project status, and sales opportunity pipeline.
  • Oversee accurate, timely, and responsible inventory management and reporting.
  • Oversee the assignment and dispatch of crews and equipment for maintenance and projects.
  • Establish headcount targets and participate in interviewing candidates.
  • Lead, motivate, and train staff to achieve company goals and objectives.
  • Communicate regularly with staff and participate in leadership meetings and training courses.
  • Actively participate in pre-production planning meetings and collaborate with engineers, subcontractors, and supervisors.
  • Manage key customer relationships and participate in the sales process within the assigned region.
  • Assess and analyze future customer needs to increase revenue within the assigned region.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
