This position travels through an assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders and new business, prepare sales contracts and interfaces with customers on location or by phone. The Area Manager is responsible for the safe and competent operation of a route vehicle and vehicle maintenance and cleanliness. They ensure that all Admiral Beverage brands and packages are rotated on a “first-in, first-out” basis in accordance with supplier requirements. This role establishes good customer rapport through professional selling approaches and properly accounts for all cash/credit proceeds, products removed from inventories, lighted signs and all other Company assets where applicable. The Area Manager solicits new business by conducting business reviews, demonstrating products and services, using samples, marketing resources, and emphasizes salable features and benefits to customers. They arrange products according to prearranged plan or own ideas approved by management, and place price and descriptive signs on backdrop, fixtures, merchandise, or floor. This role transfers product from customer stock room to floor displays to comply with "Sell By" dates, maximize production store and minimize product in stock room. The Area Manager orders product for assigned accounts in accordance with established procedures to ensure no out of stock conditions. They originate display ideas or follow suggestions or schedule of Sales Manager, and construct or assemble display aids from company provided Point of Sale (POS) materials. This role estimates and coordinates date of product delivery and empty shell pickups, based on knowledge of own firm's production and delivery schedules. The Area Manager prepares reports of business transactions and keeps expense accounts. They wear and utilize appropriated company safety equipment and wear a company-provided uniform, presenting a professional and well-groomed image to customers and the marketplace. Other duties may be assigned by the immediate supervisor or other supervisor at any time. This role carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Supervises 2 to 4 subordinate employees.

Requirements

  • Sells beverage products including beer, soft drinks, sports drinks, tea, and water to retail food stores, wholesale grocers, restaurants, hotels, or businesses.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to operate a route vehicle safely and competently.
  • Ability to maintain vehicle cleanliness.
  • Understanding of "first-in, first-out" inventory rotation.
  • Professional selling approaches.
  • Proficiency in accounting for cash/credit proceeds and inventory.
  • Ability to conduct business reviews and demonstrate products.
  • Knowledge of marketing resources and product features/benefits.
  • Ability to arrange products and create displays.
  • Familiarity with Point of Sale (POS) materials.
