About The Position

The Poly Area Manager is responsible for the organization and implementation of plans, procedures, and policies necessary to maximize the utilization of resources in line with area and plant goals. This role incorporates the core values of safety, quality, and employee relations. The Area Manager supervises Manufacturing Supervisors regarding production, distribution, volume, cost, quality, and achievement of production plans. They ensure good employee relations through the Manufacturing Supervisors and may conduct employee meetings, approve requisitions, promotions, merit increases, transfers, and discipline. This role stimulates maximum efficiency and productivity of both Manufacturing Supervisors and production employees, ensuring efficient utilization of equipment and facilities. In conjunction with Manufacturing Supervisors, they establish goals and objectives for assigned departments for review by the Plant Manager and administer the goal setting/performance appraisal program for the area. The Area Manager is responsible for the selection, hiring, and development of Manufacturing Supervisors, recommending merit increases, promotions, and transfers. They coordinate activities within their area with other production areas, plant staff managers, and the division. In conjunction with Production Control, they may develop weekly schedules to meet customer requirements. They ensure compliance with Company and Plant policies, health and safety standards, environmental regulations, hazardous waste, and good housekeeping practices. The role participates in base plan presentations, continuously reviews ongoing performance within the area of responsibility, and takes action to assure achievement of goals. They recommend improvements in equipment and processes, coordinate, manage, and evaluate the installation of new equipment or processes in their area of responsibility, and ensure proper maintenance of machines and equipment. They coordinate longer-term planning for major maintenance projects and ensure compliance with quality and process specifications, while maintaining the security of products and assets in their area of responsibility. Overtime is required to meet internal and external customer requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, preferred or 15 years manufacturing experience.
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in manufacturing environment.
  • 3+ year supervising salaried employees preferred.
  • Previous experience in Injection Molding environment preferred.
  • Previous experience managing multiple shift operations preferred.
