About The Position

This is a 2nd shift position where the Area Manager is responsible for ensuring team members work safely, produce quality parts, meet production goals, and problem-solve on the shop floor. The role involves preventing the recurrence of non-conforming parts, auditing team performance, coordinating manufacturing activity, and setting up procedures for process control. The Area Manager will also assist with cross-training team members, teach, train, coach, and discipline as needed. Additional duties include assisting with scheduling overtime and die set, gathering and analyzing MOS information, preparing production reports, assisting in MPS activities, scheduling shift production, overlooking time cards, and attending various meetings. The position requires maintaining employee relations policies, safety and health regulations, and ensuring quality standards are met, with the authority to stop production if quality is in question. The Area Manager is also empowered to enforce housekeeping standards and perform other assigned essential functions.

Requirements

  • At least one year experience on the floor.
  • Good supervisory skills.
  • Need to be cross-trained and know all jobs well.
  • Computer skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to stand on concrete floor for duration of work shift, walk, talk, push, pull, reach overhead, bend to floor, use arms, hands.
  • Will exert up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and 50 pounds of force occasionally.
  • Visual precision is needed for visually inspecting parts for quality at production equipment speed, and for reading documents, machine gauges, and precision measuring instruments.

Responsibilities

  • Teach, train, coach, assist team members with authority to discipline as needed.
  • Assist in scheduling overtime and die set.
  • Gather and analyze MOS information.
  • Prepare daily and weekly production needs report.
  • Assist in MPS activities that will reduce cost or increase performance the area manager will oversee and help implement.
  • Schedule shift production and overlook time cards.
  • Attend production, safety, quality, and current event meetings.
  • Maintains established employee relations policies and safety and health regulations.
  • Empowered to demand others maintain quality standards set by quality dept. and order job to cease running if in question.
  • Authority to demand employees to meet housekeeping standards at the plant level.
  • Performs other essential functions as assigned.
