About The Position

The Area Manager will be responsible for the overall operation of their assigned branch office. This includes ensuring the safe, cost-effective and efficient day-to-day management of ECS area locations. As well as providing direction, growth and ensuring the success of the local brand, the company overall and its employees.

Requirements

  • Hands-on field experience is required.
  • Robust knowledge of all steps in the construction process, including pre-construction, procurement, service execution, and project closeout.
  • Adaptable to a variety of assignments and settings.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with top corporate officials, managers, supervisors, and drivers.
  • Familiarity with Union labor and dispatching from local union halls.
  • Knowledge of labor laws and compliance requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and accounts effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • Management experience in the Construction & Pipeline industry is preferred.
  • Experience with employee relations, customer service, leadership, mentoring, and training is preferred.
  • A network of contacts within relevant market sectors in the area is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring Health and Safety is the number one priority by following company policies and processes.
  • Maintain and exemplify ECS' high safety and service standards by making safety a core part of daily operations.
  • Visit job sites for safety compliance, inspections, bidding, and pre-job preparation.
  • Maintain and grow established business in the assigned territory at an aggressive pace, ensuring profitability and long-term success.
  • Develop strong customer relationships, creating repeat revenue and expanding demand for ECS services through education, awareness, and market development.
  • Ensure operational consistency and service value within current market segments to sustain growth.
  • Develop field staff into professional, hardworking, knowledgeable, dependable, and self-sufficient employees.
  • Ensure employees receive necessary training, follow up on their quality of work, and uphold the company image.
  • Implement the company’s progressive discipline program as needed.
  • Facilitate the dispatching of ECS equipment and appropriate personnel to job sites.
  • Ensure smooth and efficient daily operations while maintaining high standards of service delivery.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships and accounts, including addressing invoice disputes, resolving overdue accounts, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure the fleet management program is properly executed and establish/maintain necessary supplier relationships to keep the fleet operational.
  • Understand and execute all compliance requirements, including DOT regulations, Union bargaining agreements, OSHA standards, and environmental requirements.
  • Monitor and manage the area's budget and P&L on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis to ensure profitability.
