About The Position

The Area Manager, Fabrication meets or exceeds all metrics (safety, quality, delivery, and cost) in manufacturing hydroelectric components within the process area. Floor time exceeding 50% providing management and coaching to drive results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (or related field) and/or 8 years relative experience.
  • 3+ years in manufacturing management.
  • The employee is also required to talk and/or hear in an office setting (noise level is low).
  • The employee is frequently required to stand and walk in an office environment from 4-8 hours.
  • The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; lift; stoop, or crouch.
  • The vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception and adjust focus.
  • The employee may be required to lift objects up to 50 lbs., climb ladders and perform other tasks related to an industrial environment.
  • Small amount of travel may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates planning with Production Control, Manufacturing Engineering, and downstream functions by aligning load, capacity, and competency at a strategic level to achieve plant and department metrics (safety, quality, on-time delivery, and budget).
  • Ensures proactive readiness (materials, manpower, tooling, and work instructions) so work can start immediately upon component arrival.
  • Provides direction and supports supervisors while building department competencies.
  • Accountable for the daily execution of the production system within area of responsibility.
  • Balance strategic and tactical leadership at respective 70/30 split.
  • Assures meeting or exceeding business metrics.
  • Visible leadership and personal communication.
  • Process Area continuous improvement and problem-solving leader.
  • Aligns with other Area Managers and factory leaders around expectations and policy adherence.
  • Holds people accountable to processes, policies, systems, and results.
  • Performance management and employee development.
  • Drives innovation in department to improve efficiency and competitiveness.
