About The Position

The Valliant Mill is currently seeking a Utilities Area Maintenance Manager (AMM). This position reports to the Maintenance and Reliability Manager in Valliant, Oklahoma. The Valliant mill is a 5,000+ ton per day fully integrated containerboard mill with 3 paper machines complete with fiber and utility systems that support this production. The Fiber area consists of wood chip stacking/reclaiming and screening systems; 3 pulp continuous digesters with deshive refining, screening, washing and turpentine separation; 3 secondary fiber plants with pulping, screening and cleaning systems. The mill currently operates with over 350 mill employees, 150 contract maintenance employees, and 150 other contractors in a results-oriented environment. This position provides leadership in the identification, prioritization, planning, scheduling and execution of both mechanical and E&I maintenance work in the Utilities areas of the mill. This position is the lead International Paper maintenance position in the Utilities mill areas. The Utilities Area Maintenance Manager (AMM) sets the mill expectations for the contract maintenance workforce in these areas. The Utilities Area Maintenance Manager (AMM) will work closely with the Reliability Engineering Managers, the Finished Products Maintenance Manager, the Fiber Maintenance Managers and the contract maintenance organization to improve reliability results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in a heavy manufacturing plant maintenance organization.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a paper mill required.
  • Experience in a supervisory role is required.
  • Must have strong leadership skills and a proven track record in a plant maintenance organization.
  • Must have effective communication skills to serve as the primary company representative to the contract maintenance workforce in the area and provide a key interface with reliability improvement and production organizations.
  • Must have excellent computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Set safety expectations and enforce policies for the contract maintenance organization.
  • Directs Activities Associated with the Planning and Execution of all Area Maintenance
  • Shares responsibility with the Area Production Manager for the Development and Management of Area Maintenance Budgets
  • Responsible to Improve Equipment Unscheduled Downtime and Maintenance Efficiency
  • Responsible for Successful Implementation of Maintenance and Capital Projects in Area
  • Implements precision maintenance practices.
  • Ensure all maintenance work is performed in a quality manner using Best Practices.
  • Implements Manufacturing Work System to improve maintenance planning, scheduling and work efficiencies.
  • Coordinate use of resources between areas.
  • Ensure quality Preventive and Predictive Maintenance Routes are being performed.
  • Implement training to ensure technician and leadership skills are adequately developed in the contract maintenance workforce.
  • Acts as an interface between production and the maintenance organization to ensure production needs are met and reliability is improved.
  • Implement other mill and company reliability initiatives in the area.
  • Measures and reports on maintenance performance in the managed areas.
