About The Position

This position oversees 5-8 warehouse associates and is responsible for leading, developing, and training a competent team of dock working professionals. The role focuses on maximizing team effectiveness, ensuring timely and accurate inbound and outbound deliveries, and maintaining accurate paperwork. The Area Lead will also participate in inventory counts, manage product labeling and storage, communicate efficiently with supervisors and teammates, and ensure a clean and organized work area that adheres to company sanitation and food safety standards. Additionally, the role involves operating forklifts or hydraulic jack lifts, resolving inventory variances, and tracing issues, while strictly following all rules, guidelines, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

Requirements

3+ years’ experience with loading and unloading trucks
3+ years’ experience of inventory control
Solid understanding of shipping and receiving processes
Sound leadership experience
Proven ability to interact with employees in a professional manner, including under stressful situations
Previous forklift experience
Able to operate a variety of forklifts
Candidates should be self-starters with a strong work ethic and the ability to prioritize their workload to ensure timely issue resolution

Team members will be regularly informed, trained, and held accountable for managing food safety and regulatory expectations within their work areas
Team members should notify their department management about any food safety issues or concerns to be adequately addressed

Nice To Haves

Forklift certification is preferred
Knowledge of GMPs, SPC, HACCP, OSHA, and USDA regulations

Responsibilities

Load and unload products from the trucks
Review products for damage before shipments
Sort and place materials and items according to organizational standards
Lead, develop, train and maintain highly competent dock working professionals
Maximize effectiveness of each member of the team and recommend short-term and long-term plans with respect to improving the effectiveness of assigned functions and responsibilities
Assure timely and accurate inbound and outbound deliveries
Assure the preparation and sign-off of all inbound and outbound paperwork is accurate
Participate in quarterly inventory counts with selected team members
Prep and sign-off on all inbound and outbound bill of ladings
Label products and store them in an organized manner
Communicate efficiently with supervisors and teammates
Ensure a clean, neat, and organized work area by maintaining company sanitation and food safety standards
Operate a forklift or hydraulic jack lift to move boxes
Work to solve inventory variances and trace-and-track issues
Follow all rules / guidelines / GMP’s. (Good Manufacturing Practices)
Performs other duties as assigned
