About The Position

The Area Industrial Engineer (Area IE) leads labor management and continuous process improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce operating costs across their region. This role oversees and supports multiple distribution centers within their area. The Area IE provides expertise and leadership in project management to optimize total performance and operational capability across all functional groups within the DCs. Responsibilities include driving process standardization, leading cross-functional operational and engineering teams, and managing large-scale projects related to best practices, technology applications, material handling systems, facility planning, and labor management systems. The Area IE ensures that all business and project objectives are consistently achieved across the network. This is a remote role that will support the Central Region. Our ideal candidate should be in Central or Mountain time zones, preferably within easy commuting distance from a major airport.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Analysis, Logistics, Supply Chain, or equivalent experience.
  • 5–7 years of experience as an Industrial Engineer, Operations/Business Analyst, or Consultant.
  • Distribution center or fulfillment experience required.
  • Experience supervising or leading teams preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage projects and collaborate across functional teams.
  • Strong people-leadership and change-management experience.
  • Super-user knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and understanding of WMS/LMS system interfaces.
  • Experience with Easy Metrics LMS or a comparable labor management system.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SQL.
  • Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis and development of alternative solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate data and process insights into clear written and verbal recommendations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, drive consensus, and support continuous improvement.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

  • Drives process standardization and continuous improvement across assigned distribution centers to ensure operational objectives are met.
  • Provides project management leadership for the implementation and enhancement of Warehouse Management System (WMS) capabilities.
  • Partners with local DC leadership to identify operational inefficiencies and secure support for network-wide improvements.
  • Leads solution design, cost–benefit analysis, and implementation of operational improvement initiatives.
  • Supports business development efforts by offering operational and systems expertise to shape solutions for new business opportunities.
  • Ensures consistent use of WMS capabilities, best methods, and operational best practices across all sites.
  • Develop and enhance systems and processes to improve user functionality, productivity, and overall efficiency.
  • Build and maintain management systems that support ongoing productivity and performance improvement.
  • Oversees training and development of data analysts in WMS configuration and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with the LMS Manager and DC leadership to continuously drive productivity improvements, uncover performance gaps, and promote adoption of improved practices across the network.
