About The Position

This position will be overseeing programs within the Lafayette, IN area. The Area Director - DD/IDD Services oversees all programs and services in the assigned geographic region. You’ll provide leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight to ensure high-quality services for individuals with disabilities while expanding and developing new business opportunities. This role includes budget management, staffing, licensing, policy development, marketing, and proposal preparation. You’ll work closely with program directors, support staff, and the state management team to drive excellence and ensure compliance across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) in a related field is required.
  • 2+ years of supervisory (mid-to-upper management) experience.
  • 5 years experience in residential programs or services for individuals with disabilities.
  • Multi-site or multi-state management experience.
  • Valid driver’s license with a driving record that meets agency insurance requirements.
  • Leadership: Inspire, guide, and mentor program directors and staff.
  • Decision Making: Evaluate complex situations and implement sound, timely solutions.
  • Organization & Time Management: Manage multiple programs, projects, and priorities effectively.
  • Problem-Solving: Identify operational or service challenges and implement corrective actions.
  • Adaptability: Thrive in a dynamic environment with evolving programmatic, staffing, and operational needs.
  • Customer-Centric Mindset: Ensure the needs of individuals served remain central to all decisions.
  • Communication: Clearly convey expectations, provide feedback, and build relationships with staff, families, and external stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • QIDP (Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional) certification.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) or CPM (Certified Program Manager).
  • Financial management or nonprofit management certifications.
  • CSP or CHST (safety certifications, for residential program environments).
  • Experience in program development, marketing, and business expansion.
  • Data-driven performance management experience.
  • Knowledge of Indiana-specific disability service regulations, including licensing, Medicaid compliance, and residential/community program standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage program directors and support staff, fostering teamwork and ensuring high-quality service delivery.
  • Oversee financial performance, budgets, and accounts receivable while anticipating and addressing fiscal challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with licensure, certification, and contract requirements.
  • Supervise program development, staff training, and the implementation of support plans for individuals served.
  • Expand and develop new and existing business units within the assigned area.
  • Represent Dungarvin in local, state, and regional workgroups, committees, and partnerships.
  • Assess organizational risk and implement risk management protocols to protect the company and those we serve.
  • Respond to customer and employee concerns, providing guidance and support to resolve issues promptly.
