About The Position

The Area Director of Sales & Marketing will carry out the sales efforts of the assigned properties in the stated market by soliciting business across all market segments to maximize the overall positioning of the hotels and to meet and/or exceed budgeted revenue, market share and other goals in room, group, meetings and banquets. The role involves creatively managing all aspects of sales and marketing efforts, providing strategic vision for maximum hotel sales generation and optimal revenue growth, and fostering a positive, sales-focused team attitude. This position requires collaboration with hotel General Managers and Regional Managers to build and activate hotel/market specific opportunities and strategies to capture new business, as well as leading the Business Transient RFP process and assisting with group leads and rate negotiations.

Requirements

  • Proven track record of successfully pitching for new business
  • Proven track record of increasing revenue through generation of leads at both hotel level and organizational level
  • Experience of successfully developing, implementing and benefitting from organizational sales strategies
  • Established history of achieving sales goals
  • Exhibits professionalism, a service focused approach and an enthusiasm for success
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow written procedures

Nice To Haves

  • Undergraduate degree in Business Management, Economics, Marketing, or other business-related field preferred.
  • 3-4 years' work experience in a hospitality sales experience

Responsibilities

  • Prospect and solicit new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication.
  • Creatively manage all aspects of the sales and marketing efforts for hotels.
  • Provide the strategic vision for maximum hotels sales generation and optimal revenue growth.
  • Promptly prepare correspondence to customers, internal booking reports and file maintenance/database entry.
  • Drive increased revenue and profit to achieve the Company's ambitious growth.
  • Adopt a professional and knowledgeable approach to each new business call to achieve stringent targets.
  • Foster a positive and sales focused team attitude to all departments and maintain open communications with all team members and brand representatives for the best overall performance of the hotels.
  • Participate in daily business review meetings, pre-convention meetings, training and other sales-related meetings as required.
  • Manage time effectively to ensure both hotels are successful in meeting revenue goals and provided ample sales support.
  • Attend trade shows, community events and industry meetings.
  • Forge relationships and build rapport.
  • Cultivate, enhance and leverage external and internal relationships to elevate hotels and market share awareness and drive business.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of market trends, competition and customers.
  • Understand and propose strategies, tactics, or solutions by focusing on client requirements.
  • Plan and coordinate the implementation of business plans and the penetration of new markets.
  • Adapt and actively listen to clearly understand the needs behind each opportunity.
  • Collaborate with the hotel General Manager and Regional Managers to build and activate hotel/market specific opportunities and related strategies to capture new business.
