Area Director of Operations
About The Position
Living Innovations is dedicated to being Rhode Island’s provider of choice for Shared Living, putting the people we support at the heart of everything we do and delivering exceptional services to the people served and their Home Providers. Our responsiveness to emergency services and statewide support across every county demonstrates this unwavering commitment. We’re looking for a grounded, experienced Area Director to lead our local teams across the region. If you’re a natural leader who isn't afraid to roll up your sleeves, knows how to guide a team with heart, and understands the real-world ins and outs of social services, you’ll fit right in. As an Area Director, you’ll be the steady anchor for our Program Managers and team of Coordinators. You’ll make sure our values aren't just words on a page, but show up every day in the quality of care we deliver, the way we support our staff, and how we manage our day-to-day operations.
Requirements
- 5 to 10 years of solid, hands-on supervisory experience, ideally managing multiple locations or programs.
- A firm handle on business administration, budgeting, and state social service regulations.
- You lead by example. You’re open, honest, a great listener, and steady under pressure.
- You know how to make tough decisions with sound judgment and empathy.
- A valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and current auto insurance (you'll be visiting our local teams).
Nice To Haves
- A Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Healthcare, or Business—or an equivalent mix of high school education and high-level experience in social services or healthcare.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and mentor local Program Managers. You’ll hire good people, help them grow, build a strong bench of future leaders, and keep morale high.
- Keep a close eye on the practical side of things—managing regional budgets, keeping labor costs sensible, and reviewing weekly payroll and billing.
- Ensure our programs run safely, ethically, and in full compliance with state guidelines.
- When challenges arise, you’ll help investigate issues and find sensible, long-term solutions.
- Build authentic relationships with client families, state agencies, and community groups. You’ll represent our mission and advocate for the work we do.
- Serve as the hands-on lead for state projects, grants, and specialized program contracts.
