This role involves leading and guiding construction inspection staff and managers to achieve district contract goals for safety, quality, schedule, and budgeting for construction and maintenance contracts. The position independently performs and oversees contract construction activities within a geographic region, identifies methods for improvement, and makes cost-effective recommendations compliant with safety, environmental, federal, and state standards. It ensures continuous improvement of all aspects of contract construction, provides direction, leadership, and professional engineering advice to staff, and serves as the responsible charge engineer for highway construction functions. The role also provides management, leadership, and direction for the assigned District engineering section, plans, organizes, and monitors project activities, and offers fiscal management and technical guidance on a wide variety of transportation projects, including training and developing team members.
