About The Position

The Area Clinical Director (ACD) serves as a senior area leader responsible for enabling LAL adoption and clinical execution at scale across a defined geography. This role combines strategic and operational leadership to drive adoption growth, onboarding and growth within mature customer sites, and support site readiness, performance optimization, and regional consistency. The ACD is responsible for translating the area's business direction, set with the Area Sales Director, into aligned clinical execution and performance. This includes implementing cross-functional initiatives, analyzing team outputs, resolving clinical execution bottlenecks, and ensuring continuous field coaching across the team. This position will serve as a key field-based leader to ensure a seamless customer experience with strong performance outcomes and the highest levels of RxSight technology adoption. The ACD will keep their team focused on customer retention by ensuring clinical engagement programs are executed with excellence. This is a field-based position covering the South Central area of the United States. This role will be based in San Antonio or Houston, TX. Regular local travel is required to support customers and team members throughout the region so candidates must reside in or near those cities.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to lead clinical adoption execution across diverse field teams and healthcare settings
  • Strong knowledge of cataract surgery workflows, diagnostic protocols, and patient counseling dynamics
  • Demonstrated experience driving clinic-level adoption and executing training programs at scale
  • Operational discipline in managing team KPIs, training milestones, and workflow improvements
  • High competency in cross-functional collaboration, particularly with commercial field leaders
  • Ability to contribute to the design and rollout of new adoption playbooks and clinical initiatives
  • Excellent communication and coaching skills for team development and stakeholder engagement
  • Strategic problem-solving mindset with data fluency across CRM, training logs, and outcomes tracking
  • Bachelor's degree in life sciences, healthcare administration, BSc in Optometry, or related field desirable.
  • One of the following is strongly preferred: COT, COA, COMT, CCOA certification, or BSc/Master of Optometry.
  • Advanced clinical training or professional certifications are also valued.
  • 10+ years of experience in ophthalmic clinical field roles, with at least 4 years in a leadership capacity; 3–5 years of clinical leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated history of building, managing, and developing high-performing clinical teams
  • Prior experience with premium IOL adoption, surgical workflow implementation, and patient conversion strategies strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms and data tools such as Power BI to guide adoption strategies, manage territory performance, and extract actionable insights

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Area Sales Director to align clinical strategy and resource deployment to the area's business direction and account priorities, ensuring clinical execution advances commercial goals.
  • Drive performance across area by supporting peer field leaders in LAL training execution, clinical workflow resolution, and site ramp-up strategies.
  • Ensure CS teams are adequately resourced and consistently trained to deliver onboarding and sustained adoption execution.
  • Lead execution of national clinical initiatives, LAL adoption acceleration programs, and same-store optimization efforts at the regional and area level.
  • Contribute to the development and iteration of LAL adoption programs in partnership with the Area Sales Director.
  • Oversight with regional reviews focused on training quality, adoption effectiveness, and clinical readiness across sites.
  • Build and refine consistency with clinical data reporting, CRM adoption, and cross-functional learning.
  • Ensure program execution stays consistent with the team's education standards across territories and contribute to increasing field adoption.
  • Provides strategic leadership across the assigned area with a focus on elevating LAL retention and utilization.
  • Oversees a team of Clinical Specialists ensuring alignment to performance expectations and the business direction set by the Area Sales Director.
  • Participates in executive performance reviews, hiring strategies, and structural development of clinical teams.
