About The Position

The Area Business Manager will be responsible for business building within their assigned region, including preparing beat plans, allocating targets, and driving secondary sales. They will also manage the induction and onboarding of Territory Business Managers (TBMs) and provide strategic input for territory planning. The role involves achieving sales targets for Abbott products, managing the sales operating budget, and ensuring the successful implementation of marketing strategies and campaigns. Additionally, the manager will oversee demand fulfillment by planning, forecasting, managing inventory with CFAs and stockists, and ensuring supply chain efficiency. People leadership is a key aspect, involving training, developing, supervising, and motivating TBMs to achieve company objectives. The manager will also build relationships with opinion leaders and stockists, ensure sales representatives distribute products as planned, and plan trade promotion activities. A critical part of the role is upholding Abbott's Code of Business Conduct, FCPA, Pharmacovigilance, and financial/administrative systems, while promoting professional behavior aligned with Abbott Values. High customer service, accurate transaction processing, managing customer and resource attrition, and executing division/business strategies are also essential. The role requires attending strategy meetings, briefing sessions, and other company programs to enhance performance and promote sales and company image.

Requirements

  • Minimum qualification required is Graduation.
  • Minimum 5 years of prior experience in Women’s Health business.
  • Minimum 2 years in a Supervisory role.
  • Should have handled brand launches and their subsequent stages.
  • Excellent planning and operational skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Should be fluent in the local language of the area/territory.
  • Good Computer knowledge.
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Email writing.
  • Problem Solving Skills.

  • Capable of independently generating sales if required.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA/PG Diploma in Sales & Marketing/Business Management would be a plus.
  • Preferred Age: 35-40 years.
  • Thorough knowledge of the territory where the incumbent would be placed (not a must but would be a plus).
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English is desirable.
  • In case the incumbent has not worked in the assigned territory earlier, should be able to adapt and learn quickly.
  • Should be open to relocation as per Abbott requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare a beat plan for the region and allocate targets & inputs accordingly, monitoring regularly and driving secondary sales.
  • Manage the induction and onboarding of Territory Business Managers.
  • Provide strategic input to target planning for the territory, long-term vision, and ambition.
  • Identify and follow established processes and SOPs to appoint stockists.
  • Carry out sales management of Abbott products in assigned territories and achieve defined sales targets.
  • Maintain control of the sales operating budget for the respective region.
  • Direct sales activities to ensure short and long-range sales volumes and projections are achieved.
  • Understand and clarify various strategies/campaigns, including CMEs and camps, rolled out from Marketing, and ensure 100% implementation in the region.
  • Carry out promotion & BTL activities of the Company in the assigned territory in line with the objectives/norms of the Company.
  • Plan and forecast for the area.
  • Manage CFAs, stockists, etc., to maintain optimum inventory and meet demand.
  • Ensure supply chain efficiency in the region (stockist numbers, stock availability, and significant reduction in expiry).
  • Train and develop the knowledge and skills of TBMs and build their competencies.
  • Supervise, control, review, motivate, and train the TBMs assigned to the Area and help them achieve company objectives as a team.
  • Build relationships with opinion leaders and stockists in the area and periodically evaluate important customers.
  • Assure that all assigned personnel have the appropriate training and qualification to perform duties and responsibilities.
  • Comply with own training requirements to perform duties of own job.
  • Ensure the distribution of Abbott products by Sales Representatives in all assigned towns as per Company plans.
  • Plan trade promotion activities.
  • Ensure all TBMs reporting comply with company requirements on sales force parameters (call average, coverage, knowledge scores, etc.).
  • Practice and lead direct reportees by setting a personal example of excellence in adhering to Abbott Code of Business Conduct, FCPA, Pharmacovigilance, financial and administration systems, and statutory/regulatory norms.
  • Demonstrate and promote professional behavior in line with Abbott Values.
  • Ensure a high level of customer service and manage difficult customer situations.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external guidelines and minimize comments in audits and inspections.
  • Ensure transactions and orders are processed with a high level of accuracy and commitment to satisfy customer needs.
  • Manage attrition of customer and resource bases.
  • Execute division and business strategies shared on a time-to-time basis.
  • Attend and participate in Strategy meetings, briefing sessions, doctors' meets, workshops, training programs, and any other programs undertaken by the company.
