About The Position

The Area Asset Protection Manager (AAPM) will lead Asset Protection activities for assigned units in accordance with company policies and procedures, in order to drive sales and profits. This role involves developing teams, conducting investigations, and focusing on shrink and safety initiatives.

Requirements

  • Drive sales and profits through effective Asset Protection strategies.
  • Conduct developmental conversations with direct reports.
  • Interview, hire, and train Asset Protection talent.
  • Ensure Asset Protection team follows directives, policies, and procedures.
  • Observe associate and customer activity to identify theft and fraud.
  • Review exception reports and investigation referrals.
  • Interview associates suspected of theft or fraud.
  • Document all stages of investigations.
  • Communicate external theft trends.
  • Partner with other locations/retailers to identify ORC groups and patterns.
  • Gather evidence on ORC and external fraud.
  • Attend hearings as required.
  • Update files with court-related outcomes.
  • Create and maintain relationships with local law enforcement and mall security partners.
  • Review various reports including external apprehensions, internal investigations, incident reports, PCI, PII, and Sales Audit documentation.
  • Tailor Asset Protection direction to specific stores.
  • Educate and motivate store teams on shrinkage reduction and safety.
  • Coach store associates on maintaining safe work areas and sales floors.
  • Maintain inventory maintenance processes.
  • Audit departments for merchandise protection standard adherence.
  • Identify merchandise protection opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct developmental conversations with direct reports and maintain notes/observations of strengths and opportunities.
  • Interview, hire, and train Asset Protection talent for the store and ensure the Asset Protection team follows Asset Protection Directives, policies, and procedures.
  • Actively walk the floor and coach in the moment to enhance each associate’s ability to develop and advise Store/District Leadership Teams when opportunities are noted.
  • Proactively identify potential acts of theft and fraud by observing associate and customer activity, reviewing exception reports and investigation referrals.
  • Interview associates suspected of theft or fraud in accordance with company policies and properly document all stages.
  • Review and ensure all Asset Protection documentation is complete, accurate, and maintained per Company policy and procedure.
  • Communicate external theft trends to associates and partner with other locations/retailers to identify Organized Retail Crime (ORC) groups and patterns. Take direction from DAPM and/or Field Investigations to gather evidence on ORC and external fraud.
  • Attend hearings as required and update appropriate files with court-related outcomes.
  • Create and maintain relationships with local law enforcement and mall security partners.
  • Review reports of external apprehensions, internal investigations, incident reports, PCI, PII, and Sales Audit documentation.
  • Tailor company Asset Protection direction to particular stores and create new ways to educate and motivate store teams to focus on shrinkage reduction and safety.
  • Coach store associates on keeping work areas and sales floor free of hazards to protect customers and associates from accidents, along with maintaining inventory maintenance processes.
  • Periodically audit departments for merchandise protection standard adherence.
  • Identify merchandise protection opportunities that deviate from company standards.
