The City of Oakland is seeking an Archivist to join the African American Museum and Library of Oakland (AAMLO), a division of the Oakland Public Library. This role is ideal for a candidate with archival experience related to African American history and culture, who can curate collections and develop exhibitions and presentations to share these collections with the public. The Oakland Public Library values dynamic learning through technology, public forums, sensory experiences, and scholarly research to engage patrons interested in the cultural and historical experiences of African Americans in Oakland and Northern California. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, possess cultural competence, and demonstrate a history of responsiveness to diverse communities, staff, and stakeholders.
