About The Position

Total Solutions, Inc. (TSI) has an immediate need for an Archivist/Historian to support our work for the U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM). Work is to be performed onsite at the Detroit Arsenal office located in Warren, MI. The TACOM objective is to achieve full intellectual and physical control of industrial sites' (Joint Systems Manufacturing Center-Lima, Anniston Army Depot, Rock Island Arsenal Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center, Red River Army Depot, Sierra Army Depot, and Watervliet Arsenal) collections of historically-significant archival records through centralized archival processing at TACOM History Office facilities-- including evaluation, accessioning, rehousing, arrangement, description, supporting research, conservation treatments, and disposition, and select digitization—in accordance with established standards, procedures, and policies.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years' work experience, within the past 10, or archival professional or graduate-level credentials in archival management and practice.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Preserving the institutional documentation
• Providing historical support in decision making
• Visiting the industrial sites to determine material to be collected and digitized
• Preparing documents for shipping both to Warren, MI and returning to originating locations
• Identifying and preserving historically significant records
• Implementing standardized accessioning and description procedures
• Ensuring long-term retention and secure storage
• Supporting historian and archivist responsibilities outlined at HQDA
• Strengthening continuity of historical operations and institutional memory
• Improving readiness reporting and documentation practices
• Serve as an Archivist/Historian in the TACOM with responsibility for planning, researching, and managing the TACOM archives in accordance with Army Regulations.
