About The Position

The Museum of Science is seeking an Archives Management Collegiate Intern to support archival processing. This internship involves inventorying, rehousing, conducting descriptive cataloging, writing finding aids, and ingesting data into the catalog. The intern will also research records, events, and figures to enrich Museum history and metadata, digitize records by scanning or photographing and create their metadata for ingestion into the Museum’s digital asset management system, and assist with basic reference inquiries from staff and the public through phone, email, onsite appointments, and web inquiry. The intern will also aid the Senior Archivist with daily operations.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in or recently graduated (less than 1 year) from a graduate archives and/or library science program
  • Familiarity with archival standards and metadata schemas such as DACS and Dublin Core
  • Familiarity with archival and library databases such as ArchivesSpace
  • Demonstrated interest in history, archives, library sciences, or museum studies
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
