About The Position

Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is seeking an Architecture Project Manager to support its continued growth in its Tampa, FL office. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting the delivery of architectural projects from design through construction under the guidance of senior leadership. This role applies established architectural principles and firm standards to help ensure projects meet client expectations, quality requirements, and regulatory guidelines. The position assists in developing project scopes, schedules, and budgets while coordinating with internal teams and consultants to support successful project execution. It also plays a key role in maintaining client communication, managing day-to-day project activities, and supporting overall project delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited architectural program.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience
  • Expert knowledge of leading a successful Architecture Practice.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop technical and professional skills.
  • Must be able to listen and communicate effectively
  • Must be a self-starter, team player and able to establish good working relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, team members, and other employees
  • Must be able to perform work-related travel and have a valid driver’s license
  • Must be local to GMC office

Responsibilities

  • Applies a solid understanding of firm standards, design practices, and project delivery expectations
  • Supports client relationships through responsive communication and consistent project coordination
  • Contributes to team success by collaborating effectively across disciplines and supporting project goals
  • Manages assigned portions of multiple projects under the direction of senior staff
  • Supports project delivery through all phases, including design development, documentation, and construction administration
  • Assists in developing project scopes, budgets, and schedules
  • Helps ensure accuracy and quality of design deliverables through internal review processes
  • Coordinates with internal teams and consultants to align design intent across disciplines
  • Assists in preparing drawings, reports, specifications, and related project documentation
  • Participates in QA/QC reviews to ensure compliance with standards, codes, and project requirements
  • Identifies potential project risks and communicates issues to senior staff as needed
  • Supports construction phase services, including responding to RFIs and reviewing submittments
  • Assists with project closeout documentation and final deliverable
  • Contributes to the development of improved workflows, tools, and design practices
  • Helps maintain consistency in the use of design standards and software tools (e.g., CAD/Revit)
  • Manages client satisfaction for all projects, ensuring responsiveness, reliability, and a high standard of service.
  • Leads targeted business development initiatives to engage new clients and nurture long-term relationships with existing ones.
  • Participates in the full business development cycle—from opportunity analysis and proposal development to ongoing client retention and relationship management.
  • Actively engages in understanding and responding to client needs and project objectives.
  • Demonstrates a clear understanding of the profession’s ethical obligations to clients and the public welfare.
  • Assists in reviewing and defining scope of work and project intent in coordination with consultants and contractors.
  • Supports the professional development and growth of junior staff through guidance and mentorship.
  • Collaborates across disciplines and office locations to leverage the firm’s collective expertise.
  • Consistently demonstrates a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
  • Represents the firm professionally in all project-related activities with clients, prospective employees, and the communities served.
  • Promotes and reinforces firm standards, policies, and core values.
  • Responds effectively to routine inquiries from clients, consultants, and regulatory agencies.
  • Prepares reports and technical memoranda and collaborates with architectural leadership to finalize deliverables.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively in both oral and written formats.
  • Participates in strategic planning workshops.
  • Applies expert-level problem-solving skills to resolve client-related challenges and strengthen overall engagement.
  • Champion a team player environment and approach and work with an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Conducts annual reviews of assigned staff.
  • Contributes to Client Satisfaction Services team.
  • Maintains active involvement in local civic and professional organizations to build strategic relationships and identify new business opportunities.

  • Actively participate in local professional society.
