Architecture Project Manager

Omni DesignSan Luis Obispo, CA
Hybrid

About The Position

Omni Design is a generalist architecture, engineering and land survey firm rooted in San Luis Obispo County. We design commercial, civic, and municipal projects that directly improve the communities where our clients live and work. We’re a small, close-knit team, offering real responsibility, variety, and a voice in the work. When you join Omni Design, you’re joining a team that cares deeply about craft, community, and each other. We are looking for an experienced Project Manager / Project Architect to take the lead on multiple commercial, civic, and municipal projects simultaneously. Experience with Design, Build, Delivery, and Federal Projects is a plus. Working directly with the Principal Architect, you’ll own projects from first concept through construction administration — coordinating clients, consultants, contractors, and governing agencies every step of the way. This is a hands-on technical role where you’ll be in the drawings, on the job sites, solving real problems as part of a supportive team.

  • Minimum 8 years of overall architectural office experience across all project phases
  • Minimum 3 years in a Project Manager or Project Architect role with direct budget, schedule, and client responsibility
  • Demonstrated experience in commercial, civic, municipal, or public agency project types
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD — production-level construction documents
  • Strong working knowledge of California Building Code, ADA, and Title 24
  • Experience managing consultant teams through full project delivery
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be available to work in-office and visit project sites throughout San Luis Obispo County

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Design-Build Delivery and Public Clients (K-12, Federal, Municipal, etc.)
  • Active California Architect License or active pursuit of licensure (ARE progress)
  • Proficiency in Revit — production-level preferred; working knowledge considered
  • Experience with DSA submittals or public agency plan check processes
  • Experience with Bluebeam Revu or similar PDF markup tools

Responsibilities

  • Lead all project phases from schematic design through construction administration and closeout
  • Produce and coordinate high-quality construction documents in AutoCAD (required) and Revit (preferred)
  • Perform QA/QC review of all project documents before submittal
  • Own project budgets and schedules from kickoff through closeout — monitor, report, and course-correct proactively
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Coordinate engineers, consultants, and sub-consultants to ensure design intent carries through to construction
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and governing agencies
  • Facilitate project approvals, permit processing, and plan check responses with local and state agencies
  • Direct and mentor junior architects, designers, and drafters assigned to your projects
  • Set clear expectations for deliverables, quality standards, and deadlines
