In partnership with Compton Unified School District and Tomorrow’s Talent, DLR Group is offering a hands-on internship experience for high school students interested in architecture, engineering, and the design of the built environment. DLR Group is an integrated design firm that provides architecture, engineering, planning, and interior design services for projects around the world. The firm is committed to elevating the human experience through design, creating spaces that support learning, healthcare, community, and innovation. Through this internship, students will gain exposure to how real-world design teams collaborate to bring buildings and spaces to life. Interns will have the opportunity to learn from industry professionals, explore design concepts, and see how creative ideas transform into functional environments that serve communities. The Architecture Intern will participate in a structured, hands-on learning experience designed to introduce high school students to careers in architecture, engineering, and design. Interns will gain exposure to the design process, observe how multidisciplinary teams collaborate on projects, and explore the tools and technologies used to create and develop buildings. Throughout the internship, students will participate in guided workshops, design activities, and discussions with professionals across the firm. Interns may observe project workflows, contribute to conceptual design exercises, and learn about sustainability, building systems, and construction considerations that influence the built environment. This role focuses on exploration, learning, and professional development, allowing students to build foundational knowledge while gaining insight into potential career pathways within architecture and related industries. Through studio activities, site tours, design challenges, and professional mentorship, students gain foundational exposure that can lead to future internships, college pathways in architecture or engineering, or early opportunities within the A/E/I (Architecture, Engineering & Interior Design) industry.
