About The Position

Weston and Sampson is seeking an Architectural Team Leader with 20+ years of experience for their Foxborough or Reading MA Offices. This role involves managing architectural design projects for the Facility group's clients, supporting other engineering discipline groups within the company, and contributing to the expansion of the Facility group's project base. The position requires leading and supporting multi-disciplinary project teams in the planning and design of new and renovated facilities, encompassing programming, conceptual planning, construction document preparation, and construction administration. The role also includes business development activities such as networking with clients, writing proposals, and establishing project needs. Additionally, the Architectural Team Leader will support projects through budgeting and permitting processes, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with internal teams.

Requirements

  • 20+ years of substantial experience as a productive member of a project design team.
  • Strong technical and Revit skills.
  • Ability to function comfortably, gain trust, confidence and deal effectively with a wide range of individuals including consultants, contractors and facilities project team members.
  • Proven ability to function in all phases of project development from schematic design through contract administration.
  • Strong construction experience and knowledge of architectural technical detailing.
  • Thorough knowledge of building codes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to lead a project team and guide production of construction documents, including coordination with internal and external engineering disciplines.
  • Professional degree required.
  • Architectural License.

  • REVIT/BIM knowledge is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Manage architectural design projects for the Facility group’s clients.
  • Support the company’s other engineering discipline groups.
  • Participate and contribute to the expansion of the Facility group’s growing project base.
  • Manage and develop team members through effective workload planning, performance coaching, and career progression support.
  • Lead and support multi-disciplinary project teams in the planning and design of new and renovated facilities.
  • Work includes programming and conceptual planning through construction document preparation and construction administration.
  • Network with new and existing clients by responding via direct requests and/or proposals.
  • Conduct business development including writing proposals, meeting with clients, and preparing detailed scopes of work.
  • Work directly with clients to establish project and programming needs.
  • Support projects through budgeting and permitting processes.
  • Work with estimators to prepare construction and project costs.
  • Lead the project through permitting agencies and committees.
  • Assist the client in acquiring funding through public hearings and meetings.
  • Mentor and guide the development of junior staff.
  • Participate in the growth of the Architectural practice.
  • Participate in professional organizations and internal committees and/or groups.
  • Collaborate and build strong working relationships with internal multi-disciplinary teams.
