About The Position

AECOM is seeking a Project Manager with a strong architectural background and preferably with an active architectural license to join their growing team in San Francisco, Oakland, Los Angeles, Sacramento, or San Jose, CA. This role offers the opportunity to lead impactful architectural projects from planning and design through construction, collaborating across disciplines in a dynamic, global design environment. The Project Manager will oversee the entire lifecycle of architectural projects, from initial concept to construction completion, leading project teams, interacting directly with clients, ensuring quality in design and documentation, and driving project delivery success. A licensed architect is preferred for their creative vision, technical rigor, and proven leadership in managing scope, schedule, and budget on complex projects. The US West Buildings + Places Business Line has a broad market reach, offering opportunities across various project typologies including Science & Technology, Advanced Manufacturing, Commercial, Aerospace, Higher Education, Industrial and Process, Transportation, Aviation, Sports, and Federal sectors. Requirements

  • Bachelor's from an accredited program
  • 6+ years of professional experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited program.
  • Licensed Architect in California.
  • Experience in architectural project management, including experience in California market.
  • Proven experience managing projects of varying scales and complexities.
  • Proficiency in design and project management software, such as Revit, AutoCAD, and MS Project.
  • LEED Accreditation or experience with sustainable design practices.
  • Strong understanding of California building codes, zoning regulations, and permitting processes.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with public and private sector projects, including mixed-use, commercial, and institutional developments.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage architectural projects through all phases of design and construction
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams to ensure design quality, technical accuracy, and timely delivery
  • Serve as primary client contact throughout project development
  • Oversee the preparation and review of design documentation and construction drawings
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, and deliverables in alignment with client expectations
  • Support internal resourcing, consultant coordination, and team performance
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and AECOM standards
  • May manage various size groups of architects, designers and/or specialists.
  • May work on modest size projects and/or assist Project Architectural or Engineering Managers with higher grades.
  • Responsible for providing architectural guidance, calculations, analysis, studies and recommendations for a specialized segment of the Architectural Discipline within the schedules and budget of an assigned project.
