About The Position

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking an Architectural Project Manager - Government to join our Simsbury, CT office to help grow and lead our expanding Government Practice across the Northeast. This is an exciting opportunity to join an established multi-discipline design team, including architects, interior designers, urban designers and planners. We are looking for a candidate that is self-motivated and is passionate about growing and expanding our teams’ capabilities with a track record in completing government projects and supporting and leading business development initiatives. The primary role of this position will be to oversee government design projects, manage and supervise the work efforts of assigned staff, and coordinate the technical and managerial direction regarding scope, schedule, quality, and budget of projects. This position requires sound financial management practices with ownership and accountability for financial aspects of projects. As part of this position, the ability to grow the Government Practice in CT and the northeast will require a passion for business development and fostering strong, collaborative client relationships.

Requirements

  • A professional degree in architecture from an accredited institution.
  • Professional Licensure in the state of Connecticut required.
  • Eight (8) or more years’ experience leading government design projects with at least 4 years specifically in undertaking business development activities.
  • Experience with municipal clients required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be self-motivated but also willing and able to effectively work as part of a larger team to drive results.
  • Ability to effectively perform as a key team leader (demonstrate collaboration and respect for others; contribute; lead by example, etc.).
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships.
  • Demonstrate advanced technical and non-technical writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Proficient in REVIT, AutoCAD Architecture version 2022.
  • Project scheduling skills and management skills.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Nice To Haves

  • 3D Rendering Software capabilities preferred.
  • Willingness to travel across CT and surrounding states for business development and project development purposes.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare effective work plans and labor budgets for proposals and projects
  • Work with National Government Market and Regional Leaders to establish and implement a strategy for growing our Buildings footprint across the northeast.
  • Maintain consistent communication with Market and Regional leadership and provide monthly updates on project and business development activity.
  • Monitor time schedules and capital cost budgets on projects to satisfy the client as well as control work and productivity.
  • Responsible for the quality control/quality assurance process on all assigned projects.
  • Strive to achieve predetermined goals for profit, productivity targets, schedule of events and an estimation of staff requirements as necessary.
  • Hold team meetings ensuring procedures governing review and approval of projects are followed prior to submission of completed work.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with employees involved in projects to ensure utilization targets are met.
  • Assists with the selection, negotiation, and managing of all activities regarding external clients.
  • Review monthly labor and cost reports to ensure projects are being completed at the predetermined profit goal.
  • Mentor staff on executing government project types.
  • May oversee the activities of assigned staff, including but not limited to timesheet review and approval, performance evaluation and daily supervision.
