STV is seeking an Architectural Designer to join their Buildings team in New York, NY. This role involves working with and coordinating an architectural/engineering team to prepare documents for projects focused on transportation. The ideal candidate will perform initial design phases and detailed architectural design work, requiring interface and collaboration with various disciplines, clients, and consultants. Responsibilities include analyzing design and construction systems, planning studies, design layouts, and construction details, as well as overseeing research for specifications and conducting site inspections. Requirements

  • Professional Degree in Architecture (B. Arch or M. Arch preferred)
  • Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent design, technical detailing, and strong presentation skills, both verbal and visual
  • Self-starter with a passion for problem-solving

  • Ability to fulfill essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a Jr. Architectural Designer working within the rail/transit sector
  • Transit Architecture design experience including station and related facilities
  • Experience in the transportation sector
  • Experience in Rhino, 3-D Max, Sketch-up
  • LEED Accreditation

Responsibilities

  • Working with, and coordinating, an architectural/engineering team in preparing documents for projects focused on transportation.
  • Perform the initial design phase, detailed phases of Architectural design work for projects requiring interface and collaboration with various disciplines, clients, and consultants.
  • Prepares Architectural plans, and/or supervises their execution.
  • Performs analysis of design and construction systems, planning studies, design layouts, and construction details.
  • Oversees research used in writing specifications, including coordinating with manufacturers.
  • Conducts site and construction inspections for information-gathering purposes, preparing interpretive reports.
  • Executes code analysis, material selections, and technical solutions.
  • Analyzes design and construction systems, design layouts, and construction features, which require researching, compiling, and recording information for assigned project work.
  • Coordinates with other disciplines.
  • Plan, schedule, coordinate, manage, and oversee the work.
  • Determine collectively with multiple design disciplines, the technical approach and design criteria for projects.
  • Work with architectural staff under architectural lead in a team.
  • Develop design details, plans and specifications.
  • Use computer software as a design tool for solving complex architectural problems.
  • Contribute new designs, or techniques that are of material significance in the solution of important problems.
  • Remain current in codes and technologies appropriate to the architecture discipline including IBC, NFPA, etc.
  • Ensure conformance with standards, established architectural practices, applicable codes, and technical adequacy of design and construction.
  • Must be able to fulfill essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.
