About The Position

Handel Architects is seeking a Designer with 5+ years of professional experience to join their San Francisco studio. This role involves shaping buildings from feasibility and concept phases through documentation and construction, partnering with Senior Project Architects and design teams on multiple concurrent projects. The Designer will coordinate with consultants, lead meetings, and develop skills to deliver thoughtful, well-executed, and inspirational buildings. This is an opportunity for a motivated Architect to grow professionally, contribute to meaningful projects, and take ownership in a supportive, collaborative environment.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional architectural experience across all project phases, from feasibility and entitlement through construction
  • Professional degree in Architecture
  • Experience with multifamily residential projects
  • Strong knowledge of zoning, planning, and building codes
  • Proficiency in Revit required
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Experience with 3D modeling and rendering tools
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating consultant teams and leading project meetings
  • Proficient in producing comprehensive construction document sets
  • Highly organized, technically proficient, and detail-oriented
  • Ability to take a design from concept through execution
  • Collaborative team player with strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience with Construction Administration and jobsite observations

Responsibilities

  • Play a key role in shaping buildings starting from the feasibility and concept phases.
  • Ensure design intent is carried through documentation and construction.
  • Partner closely with Senior Project Architects and design teams on multiple, concurrent projects across all phases.
  • Coordinate directly with consultants.
  • Lead meetings.
  • Continue to develop the skills to deliver thoughtful, well-executed, and inspirational buildings that enhance the urban environment.
  • Produce clear client presentations and accurate construction documents.
  • Conduct Construction Administration and jobsite observations.
