About The Position

The Architectural Designer II is an early career level technical architecture role that is responsible for assisting project teams with a range of project types from early design through construction under the supervision of a seasoned Architect and/or Project Designer. This role requires demonstrated proficiency in technical development and experience in code research, consultant coordination and construction documentation. This individual has the ability to work with moderate to minimal supervision. This position has its focus on Higher Education market sector projects, with opportunities for other market sector projects. The individual in this role is expected to further develop and employ critical thinking skills while working under the direction of a project architect in responsible control.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Architecture (4-year) degree required
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience with demonstrated technical proficiency required
  • Proficient in BIM/Revit as well as Microsoft Word, Excel
  • Familiarity with and experience navigating building codes
  • Experience managing construction document sets and consultant coordination
  • Very detail-oriented, self-motivated, enthusiastic, and flexible
  • Ability to work well with others under deadline situations
  • A desire to develop critical thinking skills for growth and positive impact
  • Familiarity with various construction types

Nice To Haves

  • LEED Accredited or other sustainability credential preferred
  • Experience with 3-D coordination using Revizto is preferred
  • Experience with UpCodes and RIB Speclink preferred
  • Possess the desire to learn how to motivate and mentor others

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the production and management of coordinated construction documents that meet firm quality standards, technical accuracy, and code compliance in accordance with the HED Design Process
  • Coordinate with internal team members and external consultants to ensure technical alignment, design integrity, and consistency across all disciplines, with minimal direction
  • Support code research and regulatory compliance and coordinate with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), including the Division of the State Architect- California (DSA) for permitting and approvals
  • Assist with material, product, and building systems research to inform detailing and specification development
  • Support construction administration activities, including RFIs, submittmits, and field reports, under supervision of senior technical leadership
  • Provide support to more junior team members and support the development of technical standards
