About The Position

We are looking for a telco professional who is an excellent team-player for our Open RAN Solutions team focused on customer ready end-to-end solutions in the new disaggregated world. In the context where the telecommunication industry is transforming from a purpose-built (PB) system to an open and disaggregated system with an ecosystem of partners; Ericsson is also disaggregating the Baseband product. Customers are moving into installing Commercial-off-the-Shelf (COTS) hardware, CaaS layer and Ericsson SW in Cloud RAN architecture. Moreover, they would like to have the RAN to be integrated to 3p radios and Service Management and Orchestration (SMO) products. Delivering a solution requires understanding the role of each node and how they fit in the architecture.

Requirements

  • Degree in one of these: Computer, Electronics or Telecommunications Engineering, IT or equivalent work experience
  • Work experience including architecture design and deployment, systems lifecycle management as well as integration.
  • Strong RAN and Cloud (RH OCP and CNIS) competence.
  • DevSecOps concepts.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English
  • High degree of flexibility to work in a changing environment.
  • Experience with vendor collaboration or management
  • Experience working with customers
  • Knowledge on Open RAN/ Cloud RAN, and know-how around respective standards/initiatives under ORAN umbrella
  • Strong experience and proven track record in working in cross functional teams
  • Excellent understanding of security practices, principles and tooling is a must
  • Understanding of security constructs for encryption such as public key Infrastructure (PKI), SSL/TLS, x509 certificates, digital signatures, symmetric vs asymmetric keys, envelope encryption etc.
  • Basic understanding of Linux security concepts such as user management (optionally PAM integration, LDAP) , privilege escalation, system calls

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge/Exposure on Telco cloud unique networking requirements (including but not limited to Multus secondary interfaces, VLAN tagging, network interface bonding, SR-IOV, DPDK) will be seen as a strong asset
  • Experience in Cloud Security and observability (including but not limited to cluster monitoring, log aggregation solutions, access control principles etc.) to complement the Cloud RAN application security/observability

Responsibilities

  • Lead in solution analysis & design and act as technical lead for the solution domain in a Cloud Native Solution deployment environment.
  • Assist in troubleshooting, deployment, documentation, integration of solutions where there are skills required in multiple domains (applications, network, hardware). Be hands-on.
  • Ensure the software introduction and solution aligns with customer security requirements. Apply the shared security paradigm introduced by the disaggregation to address cross cutting security issues
  • Be a strong communicator and collaborator to work with CU teams and NSPM SPMs, Open RAN Solutions Program Management and SAN SPMs while working on Solution delivery. Be able to impact decisions and negotiate when other teams are not able to fully comprehend the value of e2e solutions and why the customers need them.
  • Provide strategic guidance (with ability to do hands-on activities) when it comes to product and/or solution security issues, escalations and concerns from customer engagements.
  • Cascade the security learnings and know-how to SPMs, RA Solutions Program, MA NPI teams, SAN and other CU teams through the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with design organization and NSPM SPMs on populating customer security questionnaire, checklists/statement of compliance etc.
