About The Position

Baskervill is a multidisciplinary design firm seeking an experienced Architect/Project Designer for its growing Education Studio. This role involves contributing creativity, technical expertise, and strategic thinking to a variety of educational projects, including laboratories, research spaces, dining facilities, recreation and athletic spaces, and shared campus amenities. The position is ideal for someone who thrives on variety, takes ownership, and wants to be involved in the full project lifecycle, from ideation to completion.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree from an NAAB-accredited institution
  • 8+ years of professional architecture experience
  • 4+ years of experience working on commercial, institutional, and/or education projects
  • Proficiency in Revit, Bluebeam, and Newforma
  • Experience in project architecture and management including consultant coordination, design and construction document preparation, and working with the contractor through construction administration
  • A desire to work collaboratively with team members in a constructive and engaged manner onsite in our Richmond office
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with an ability to listen carefully and analyze information
  • Experience managing/mentoring staff
  • The ability to travel to other Baskervill offices or client project locations as needed

Responsibilities

  • Oversee projects from design conception to construction completion while focusing on meeting budget, timeline, and client specifications
  • Help lead the team of Architects, Engineers and Interior Designers to manage design, coordinate construction documents, and resolve any issues that may arise in construction administration
  • Support the Principal in Charge in addressing client priorities and maintaining smooth client relationships
  • Act as the main point of contact for clients, contractors, and consultants on projects
  • Mentor and work closely with junior staff to review their work and support their career development
  • Work on multiple projects of varying sizes, providing team guidance through every phase of design
