About The Position

The Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk (ARC) seeks a passionate, dynamic, high performing Public & Legislative Affairs Officer who is primarily responsible for researching legislation related to ARC operations and for establishing public outreach and education standards, goals, priorities, operational plans, and policies and procedures. Requirements

  • OPTION 1: Bachelor’s degree in political science, public or business administration, public policy or other closely related field, AND two (2) years of full-time equivalent progressively responsible professional-level administrative experience tracking and making recommendations and developing policies and procedures to implement legislative impacts. Experience should include developing and administering public outreach and education programs fostering public understanding of goals and to provide the public with information to promote an organization's events and activities.
  • OPTION 2: Sixty (60) semester (90 quarter) units of completed college coursework in political science, public or business administration, public policy or other closely related field, AND two (2) years of full-time equivalent progressively responsible professional-level administrative experience tracking and making recommendations and developing policies and procedures to implement legislative impacts. Experience should include developing and administering public outreach and education programs fostering public understanding of goals and to provide the public with information to promote an organization's events and activities.
  • Three (3) years of additional qualifying experience may substitute for the required education for either Option 1 or 2.
  • All work experience and education information must be clearly detailed and demonstrated on the application AND supplemental questionnaire.
  • Qualifying degrees or coursework must be completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education.
  • Degrees or coursework completed outside the U.S. must be accompanied with an evaluation report from a reputable credential evaluation service showing equivalency.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of local, tribal, State and Federal government organizations and legislative processes as well as pertinent laws, ordinances, statutes, and regulations.
  • Experience researching and tracking current and proposed legislation and making recommendations.
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to prepare and present clear and concise reports.
  • Ability to establish working relationships with government officials, agency leaders, boards/commissions, community groups and the general public.
  • Experience with media, community groups, and the public regarding programs, and other current affairs utilizing various media platforms such as newspaper, television, radio and social media.
  • Advanced skills in organizing oneself and taking initiative for projects.
