About The Position

The Office of First-Year & University Programs is seeking returning students to serve as Peer Coaches for UNIV Academic Recovery courses. Peer Coaches provide academic and holistic support to students by assisting in the classroom, mentoring peers, and completing outreach to support student success. Peer Coaches attend weekly class sessions, facilitate small‐group activities, meet individually with students, and collaborate closely with UNIV instructors and program staff. This role offers meaningful leadership experience, professional development training, and the opportunity to make a direct impact on student retention and success. Under supervision, Instructional Student Assistants in this classification perform teaching, grading or tutoring duties for the majority of work hours in a given appointment in a given academic department or equivalent administrative unit over the course of an academic term. Assignments are made by academic department or equivalent administrative unit by a specific supervisor at a CSU campus. The work may be performed on-campus or at an off-campus public agency or private non-profit organization under an agreement with a campus in the CSU system.

Requirements

  • Must be a currently admitted CSU student in good academic standing
  • Must have earned a B or higher in a UNIV Academic Recovery course
  • Must be enrolled at least part-time
  • Strong communication, professionalism, and reliability required
  • Requires admission as CSU student
  • Requires a passing grade of B or better in UNIV academic recovery course
  • Student must be currently on good academic standing with the university
  • Student must be enrolled at least part-time for the Fall 2026 semester
