Arc/AOD Repair
About The Position
This role involves inspecting, repairing, and replacing furnace and AOD vessel linings, as well as installing refractory and tuyeres. The position requires working with refractory materials, including mortar, laying and cutting bricks according to drawings, ramming roof and furnace refractory, and replacing arc/AOD shell brick as needed. Responsibilities also include removing damaged or worn parts and linings using tools such as chisels, hammers, and bars, performing routine maintenance on arc furnaces, and operating a power lift truck for material transport. The role also entails maintaining inventory of parts and lining materials, and assisting with induction furnace repairs.
Requirements
- Good mechanical aptitude.
- Basic blueprint knowledge.
- Experience with basic measuring instruments.
- Able to lift and carry 75 lbs.
- Good general knowledge of induction furnaces.
- Familiarity with a variety of refractory materials.
Responsibilities
