About The Position

The Arborist position is responsible for leading a team on tree or grounds projects, diagnosing and treating tree problems, and performing work in trees up to 120 feet tall. This role also involves fertilizing and pruning trees and shrubs, performing equipment maintenance, and assisting with snow removal during winter months. The Arborist must be willing to perform other grounds department work as needed.

Requirements

Over 10,500 hours trimming tree and over 6,240 hours removing and falling trees
Experience with stump grinders, crane work, bucket operations, and climbing
High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred
Certified Arborist
Knowledgeable about proper arborist techniques involving pruning (including ornamentals,) ropes, chain saws, cabling, guiding and tree identification

Responsibilities

Lead a team of workers on trees or grounds projects
Diagnose and treat tree problems mechanically or chemically
Climb trees to perform work in trees that are over 120â€™ tall
Obtain or have a CDL license with in 60 days of employment and must maintain it during employment
Obtain or have a WV Commercial Pesticide Applicator license with in 30 days of employment and must maintain it during employment
Fertilize and prune trees
Fertilize and prune shrubs
Perform equipment maintenance on equipment related to tree work
Help remove snow at hotel during winter months
Do other grounds department work as needed
Understand and follow detailed directions from supervisor
Communicate clearly and effectively with co-workers and guests
Fill out paperwork and logbooks including logbooks on computers
