About The Position

Lead OU's tree crew, overseeing tree care, safety, and maintenance to protect campus and enhance landscape quality. Drive pruning, removals, storm response, and sustainability initiatives. Keep OU safe, beautiful, and thriving. Supervises work in all aspects of landscape construction and maintenance. Performs technical and semi-technical duties required in the propagation of plant materials. Organizes, coordinates and directs landscape crews. Performs the necessary tasks to accomplish the goals set forth by the Landscape Department. Coordinates the application of fertilizers and pesticides in a safe and proper manner. Directs and supervises the safe and proper use of equipment and materials, including heavy equipment. Assists in the design and layout of floral and plant beds, and the selection of appropriate materials, plants, and flowers. Coordinates and directs the work of other Facilities Management crews working on landscape projects. Prepares and approves employee time cards and prepares routine reports. Selects and trains personnel, evaluates performance, and makes salary recommendations. Processes requisitions to stock and maintain supply inventory. Ensures safety of all personnel and proper operation and security of gardening equipment. Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience in landscaping, arboriculture (tree care), or grounds maintenance
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license

Nice To Haves

  • ISA Certified Arborist certification may be required depending on location or assignment
  • Bachelor's of Science in Forestry or Horticulture or Related Field
  • Oklahoma pesticide license
