About The Position

The Arborist Climber Trainee is an entry-level role on a tree care crew, working alongside arborists on commercial and residential properties. The position provides hands-on, on-the-job training in scientific tree and shrub care and in the safe performance of arboriculture work. The trainee assists Arborist Climbers and Arborist Crew Leaders on the ground and aloft, learns to maintain and operate equipment, and follows work-zone procedures and company safety policies. The role involves outdoor work year-round in all weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

Prior tree care, landscaping, forestry, turf care, or horticulture experience.
A degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Turfgrass, Environmental Science, Plant Science, Outdoor Recreation, Agriculture, or a related field.

Responsibilities

Learn to safely perform arboriculture tasks through on-the-job training, including tree climbing, pruning, rigging, cabling and bracing, removal of hazardous trees, and tree identification.
Properly maintain and operate hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
Implement work-zone safety procedures.
Assist Arborist Climbers and Arborist Crew Leaders on the ground and aloft.
Assist with driving, backing, dumping, and parking duties.
Learn, understand, and adhere to all safety rules and company safety policies.
