Arborist Apprentice
About The Position
Wright Tree Service of Canada, a business unit of Wright Canada Holdings, provides vegetation management, storm restoration, and work planning services to utility companies and their communities across North America. We are looking for an Arborist Apprentice to join our team. This is a full-time position with a pay rate of $23 to $25 per hour. We provide all equipment needed except CSA Certified Work Boots. The role involves working shifts from Monday to Friday, with compensated travel time depending on the working location, and a live-out allowance. We offer medical and dental benefits and potential for employee ownership.
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of trees, including identification and growth habits.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driving record; air brakes endorsement is a plus.
- Ability to work as part of a team in physically demanding environments.
- Motivated to learn independently and from team members, with strong time management skills.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining tools and equipment.
- Comfortable working in noisy environments with proper PPE.
- Willingness to work long hours, overtime, and participate in on-call rotations during emergencies.
- Valid First-Aid and CPR certificates.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris, or feed brush into a woodchipper.
- Assist in site set-up and take-down, including equipment handling and maintaining site cleanliness.
- Commitment to working safely and supporting a positive team environment.
- Perform physically demanding manual labor in various weather conditions.
- Other duties as required.
