About The Position

Assists the Aquatics Coordinator with daily pool operations and the supervision of the aquatics staff. Monitors pool chemicals and equipment, responding to maintenance needs and operational issues. Leads the inspection and upkeep of safety equipment and chemical storage areas, ensuring accurate maintenance of MSDS documentation. Assists with training and supervising lifeguard staff. Performs technical tasks to ensure patron safety by preventing and responding to emergencies, monitoring pool activities, enforcing water safety rules and regulations, and performing maintenance in accordance with established policies and procedures. Oversee the setup and delivery of programs, classes and events as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Education or equivalent is desirable
  • Completion of American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification course with current certification in good standing
  • Experience as lifeguard preferred
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Pool maintenance knowledge preferred
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard with CPR/First Aid for Professional Rescuer (r.24)
  • Certified Pool Operator or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Aquatic Coordinator with daily pool operations.
  • Leads daily safety inspections and routine pool maintenance, communicating identified issues, work orders, actions taken, and required follow-up to the Aquatics Coordinator.
  • Provides leadership to LG I Staff in conducting safety inspections, performing equipment maintenance and completing cleaning tasks.
  • Relays or communicates daily events and operational updates to Aquatics Coordinator and/or Aquatics Programs Specialist.
  • Coordinates with lifeguards to ensure necessary notifications, signage, equipment, and preparations are in place to support patron safety and accessibility.
  • Works with the Aquatic Coordinator and Programs Specialist to prepare, set up and oversee programs and events.
  • Completes administrative tasks for the department, including daily and monthly logs, accident and emergency reports, work order requests, and related documentation.
  • Assists the Aquatics Coordinator in reviewing and updating EAP’s, pool procedures, inventory records, and other departmental records.
  • Maintains MSDS documentation, chemical inventory, storage records, and purchasing logs.
  • Maintains and monitors pool maintenance communication logs.
  • Performs technical tasks to ensure the safety of all pool patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies throughout the Bodenhamer facility.
  • Monitors swimming pool activities, recognizing and responds to emergency situations, enforcing water safety rules and regulations, and completes pool maintenance tasks in compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Conducts routine inspections of pool, surrounding area, and all associated equipment including ladders, handles, and steps.
  • Ensures the pool is free of debris, drain covers are clean and secure, and handicap chair is clean and operational.
  • Ensure the pool deck is clean and free of hazardous conditions.
  • Routinely checks locker rooms for hazards or cleanliness issues and notifies the Aquatics Coordinator and support staff for resolution.
  • Completes various safety inspection tasks, ensures all safety equipment is in proper working order.
  • Maintains the first aid station, ensuring it is clean, orderly and fully stocked.
  • Ensures patron use equipment- such as noodles, kickboards, water game equipment, and aqua belts are safe and in good condition.
  • Ensure all chemicals and cleaning supplies are stored properly with correctly labeled and locked doors.
  • Monitors the chemical storage area and pool area for suspicious odors; checks the pump to ensure proper operation and absence of leaks.
  • May assist with swim lessons and/or helping to coach the swim team.
  • Responds to radio calls to assess and properly address emergencies within the building and adjacent facilities.
  • Communicate with staff using walkie talkie radios to ensure coordinated and effective response efforts.
