About The Position

The Aquatics Specialist 2- Lifeguard maintains the safety and cleanliness of the aquatic facility. This role involves providing lifeguarding services, responding to emergencies, administering CPR/First Aid, and preparing accident/incident reports. The specialist will also participate in training and staff meetings, perform general housekeeping duties in the natatorium, and complete applicable reports. Optional duties include teaching swim lessons to preschool and school-age children (levels 1-6) if approved by the Aquatics Coordinator and providing a program atmosphere that promotes inclusion and satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Read, write, and speak English language to express ideas and communicate effectively.
  • Safe aquatics practices.
  • Use of aquatic equipment and cleaning supplies.
  • Multi-task and follow instructions to complete tasks in a safe and effective manner.
  • Interact with individuals using generally accepted business behaviors and standards.
  • Use interpersonal skills to deal effectively with others in favorable and unfavorable situations.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Some experience in Customer Service and Aquatics Cleanliness.
  • Certification in Lifeguard Training required (American Red Cross or Ellis & Associates).
  • Employee’s responsibility to maintain and keep certifications current.

Responsibilities

  • Provide life-guarding services.
  • Respond to emergency situations and if necessary, administer CPR/First Aid.
  • Prepare and submit accident/incident reports.
  • Participate in In-Service training, orientations and other staff meetings as requested.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in and around the natatorium, e.g. hosing, vacuuming, picking up litter, etc.
  • Complete applicable reports and make records.
  • If you desire to teach as a Water Safety Instructor, you must ask the Aquatics Coordinator for approval to start teaching and provide background information from past teaching experience.
  • Teach swim lessons to preschool and school age children, levels 1-6.
  • Provide a program/class atmosphere that promotes and encourages inclusion and satisfaction to all participants.
  • Participate in in-service training, orientations and other staff meetings as requested.
