About The Position

The City of Avondale is accepting applications for the Parks, Recreation & Libraries 2026 Aquatic Season. This recruitment will be used to fill existing vacancies and establish a cert list for the 2026 Aquatic Season. Applications are being accepted continuously until positions are filled. The first review of applications will be on June 29, 2026, with weekly reviews thereafter. These positions are temporary and will work a varied schedule beginning in January 2026 (based on the position). Join Our Aquatic Team! Requirements

  • Lifeguard Certification and CPR for the Professional Rescuer (required within 30 days of hire)
  • Must be at least 15 years old by January 31, 2026
  • No prior experience required
  • Lifeguard Certification and CPR for the Professional Rescuer (required within 30 days of hire)
  • Must be at least 16 years old upon hire
  • No prior experience required
  • Lifeguard Certification, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and Swim Lesson Instructor (SLI) Certification or equivalent (all required within 30 days of hire)
  • Must be at least 16 years old upon hire
  • No prior experience required

Responsibilities

  • Supports daily program operations of the Avondale Aquatic Center, including monitoring the safety of patrons utilizing the facility, educating patrons on safe facility conduct, and, as needed, providing life-saving rescues for patrons in distress up to 4 feet in depth.
  • Supports daily program operations of the Avondale Aquatic Center, including monitoring the safety of patrons utilizing the facility, educating patrons on safe facility conduct, and as needed, providing life-saving rescues for patrons in distress up to 12.5 feet in depth.
  • Oversees and ensures the safety, instruction, and maintenance of a City-operated swimming pool by leading educational activities, enforcing rules, performing rescues, administering first aid, maintaining facilities, and handling cash transactions.
