About The Position

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Aquatics Manager works to ensure YMCA members, participants and guests experience a safe & fun pool environment that helps them reach their goals.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • At least 1 year supervisory experience in customer service and/or instruction
  • Demonstrated success leading aquatic-focused or equivalent team
  • Demonstrated leadership, dependability & flexibility in work hours
  • Complete within 30 days of hire: YMCA cause & culture training; Aquatics-specific training including Lifeguard certification, if needed; Child Abuse Prevention Training; BLS CPR; First Aid; Emergency Oxygen Administration (provided by YMCA)
  • Follow youth boundaries policies and abuse risk management training.
  • Report suspicious behavior, policy violations, and adhere to mandated abuse reporting and responsibilities.
  • Complete all required abuse prevention training prior to first shift.
  • Screen, train, and enforce abuse prevention policies for staff.
  • Promote a reporting culture, address violations, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ensure compliance with mandated reporting and communicate zero tolerance to all staff.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community and successful clearance of background check.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.
  • Works with supervisor to establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Supports staff and volunteers.
  • Works with supervisor to develop strategies to lead staff and achieve goals which may include direct staff supervision and leadership.
  • Assists in maintaining staff records.
  • Monitors and maintains records of daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations and ensures proper maintenance of pool.
  • Creates and schedules classes, practices and other events to meet the needs of the program and community.
  • Assists with program statistics.
  • Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
  • Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.
  • Compiles program statistics.
  • Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
  • Actively participates in branch, department and association staff meetings and/or trainings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
