About The Position

The Aquatics GS Supervisor is responsible for ensuring adequate staffing of lifeguards/attendants, processing payroll, overseeing staff scheduling, maintaining personnel records, and conducting annual evaluations and corrective actions. This role also involves preparing reports, scheduling maintenance and repairs, interviewing, hiring, training, mentoring, and terminating staff. Additionally, the supervisor contributes to the annual budget process, maintains active surveillance of pool areas, responds to emergencies, and ensures adherence to safety rules and policies. The position requires performing equipment checks, identifying hazardous conditions, attending staff meetings and training, and coordinating with other departments.

  • Knowledge of emergency procedures and ability to respond immediately.
  • Understanding and application of safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the pool.
  • Ability to perform equipment checks.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure adequate staffing of lifeguards/attendants in the pool area during hours of operation.
  • Process staff payroll timely and accurately.
  • Document, record and sign for department time sheets.
  • Oversee the staff scheduling and changes.
  • Maintain and process the personnel records of department employees.
  • Provide supervision of annual evaluations and corrective actions.
  • Prepare and provide requested statistics, reports and spreadsheets.
  • Schedule maintenance and repairs needed on department assets.
  • Interview, hire, train, mentor and terminate staff as necessary.
  • Provide information and input in the annual department budget process.
  • Maintain active surveillance of the pool areas.
  • Know/review all emergency procedures and respond to emergency situations immediately in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Complete related reports as required.
  • Know, understand, and consistently apply safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool.
  • Perform equipment checks and ensure appropriate equipment is available as needed.
  • Check the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving.
  • Attend all staff meetings and in-service training.
  • Coordinate with other departments as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned.
