About The Position

The purpose of this job is to perform duties related to the operation and maintenance of a municipal swimming pool and perform other related work as required for the assigned department. This is an experienced level capable of carrying out most assignments typical of the position with limited guidance or review. Works under direct supervision and follows standardized procedures and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks.

Requirements

• CURRENT LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATIONS
• General knowledge of pool equipment, chemicals, and emergency procedures.
• Ability to work under stress while performing duties and responsibilities in a cooperative manner with staff, supervisor and general public.

Responsibilities

• Enforces preventative safety measures and provides general lifeguard services (i.e. rescuing swimmers in distress, administering CPR and first aid).
• Organizes, teaches, and supervises groups and individuals in a variety of aquatic programs and activities.
• Maintains a safe and clean aquatic environment including but not limited to: pool deck, pool water chemistry, locker rooms, showers, and bathroom.
• Ensures that all equipment and supplies are adequate and in good condition and makes recommendations for replacement when necessary.
