About The Position

The City of Surprise Parks and Recreation Department is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for our residents by providing exceptional parks and recreation services. In May of 2025, the City of Surprise opened a state-of-the-art aquatic center, in addition to our two established aquatic complexes, which will help to serve our quickly growing community. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and independent individual to contribute to our mission and the success of these facilities. SUMMARY Incumbents perform routine work in the maintenance of the City's aquatic facilities. This includes performing skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, monitoring and repairing the City's public pools, and public pool properties. Incumbents work evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends to support high patron use of facilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years of aquatics maintenance experience.
  • Valid Arizona Driver's License at time of hire and must be maintained.
  • Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) or Certified Pool Operator (CPO) Certificate required within six months of hire and must be maintained.
  • Successful completion of a post-offer, pre-employment background screening including: Fingerprinting, Criminal Background screening, Drug Screen, E-Verify, Education and Experience Verification, and 39 Month Motor Vehicle Department Records Check.

Nice To Haves

  • Pesticide/herbicide applicator license is preferred.
