The Aquatic Sustainability Internship offers hands-on experience with a diverse range of fish, invertebrates, reptiles, amphibians, and their life support systems. The program aims to develop the knowledge and skills needed for an entry-level career in aquatic husbandry. Interns learn about quarantine procedures, disease-causing agents and treatments, water quality, filtration systems, the nitrogen cycle, system components and design, aquatic animal anatomy, propagation, larval rearing, and standard husbandry practices. This is not a veterinary internship and does not involve birds, cetaceans, or pinnipeds. The Aquarium’s quarantine facility is an offsite warehouse west of the Georgia Aquarium. Interns must provide their own reliable transportation. This paid internship requires a regular schedule of 40 hours per week and may include weekends and holidays. The Spring 2027 mandatory orientation is February 4, 2027. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and may close before the stated November 25 application deadline.
