About The Position

We are currently seeking an energetic, reliable and passionate Aqua Aerobics Instructor to plan and lead low-impact, aquatic fitness group classes for hotel guests in Cape May, NJ. Classes may take place in the pool at the Sandpiper Beach Club.

Requirements

  • Current CPR/AED certification and basic First Aid knowledge required prior to teaching.
  • Reliable Transportation required.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant academic and/or professional credentials appropriate to the class format taught and/or personal training or group fitness certification.
  • 1–3 years’ experience leading group fitness or wellness classes preferred.
  • Basic activity planning and execution experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of Cape May and the Cape Resorts properties a plus.
  • Punctual, prepared, and reliable.
  • Passionate about fitness and coaching others with purpose while providing excellent customer service.
  • High energy and enthusiasm are a must.
  • Comfortable leading groups, and engaging participants as a confident public speaker.
  • Knowledge of current fitness and wellness trends.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Friendly, professional communication skills when interacting with guests.
  • Availability for non-traditional hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to perform an aerobic activity for the duration of a class, which may include standing, swimming, walking, climbing, balancing, running, crawling, and kneeling.

Responsibilities

  • Design safe, effective water-based workouts, incorporating warm-ups, cardio, muscle conditioning, and cool-downs.
  • Lead classes, demonstrate proper form and technique, and provide modifications and corrections for different fitness levels or physical limitations.
  • Monitor participants for signs of fatigue or injury and enforce pool safety.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emergency procedures and provide first aid if needed.
  • Oversee set up and break down of class - arriving at a minimum of 25 minutes prior to class start time for proper set up (set up time may vary depending on complexity of set up required) and ensuring aquatic equipment (such as water dumbbells, float belts, weights, and noodles) is properly cleaned, returned and stored after class.
  • Manage class attendance, including guest sign-in and/or reservations.
  • Act as a host and representative of the Guest Experience Team, guiding guests through fitness and wellness programs while upholding the high standard of service Cape Resorts is known for.
  • Manage and schedule private training sessions with guests upon request.
  • Resolve guest issues or concerns promptly to ensure a positive guest experience.
  • Coordinate with the Guest Experience Manager to secure a qualified substitute instructor when unable to teach a scheduled class.
