About The Position

TAT Technologies is seeking a qualified APU Assembly Technician for its Greensboro site, which serves as the company's Center of Excellence for Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) and landing gear MRO services. APUs are turbine engines used on aircraft to provide electrical and pneumatic power when main engines are not running. The role involves the assembly, testing, and documentation related to aircraft components, as well as disassembly, inspection, rework, and packaging of parts. The technician will interpret maintenance manuals and technical data to perform tasks, replace or repair engine parts using various tools, and maintain a clean work area. Accurate completion of work orders and data entry into the ERP system is required, along with understanding commercial, FAA, EASA, Repair Station, and ISO documentation. The position also includes operating and maintaining specialized equipment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED minimum.
  • Minimum 3 years of mechanical experience required.
  • Must have a strong aptitude for acquiring new mechanical skills and knowledge.
  • Experience in turbine engine overhaul or engine component overhaul required.
  • Ability to use precision measuring equipment and hand tools appropriate to the assigned tasks.
  • Ability to locate, read and follow the technical data appropriate for the assigned task.
  • Must be able to read, write and understand English fluently.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Honeywell 331 series APU’s preferred.
  • Technical school courses in auto or diesel mechanics or machinist classes preferred.
  • FAA Airframe and/or Power Plant license or equivalent certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assembly, testing, and travelers related to LRUs, components, parts and tools.
  • Disassembly, cleaning, analytical inspection, rework schemes, painting, packaging, and other duties as assigned.
  • Reading and interpreting maintenance manuals, or other technical data to determine the feasibility and method to perform the assigned task.
  • Replacing or repairing damaged or worn engine parts and component parts using general hand tools, special tools, pneumatic tools and precision measuring equipment.
  • Assembling components with same tools and equipment.
  • Maintaining work areas and tools in a clean and organized manner, practicing proper tool and FOD control.
  • Accurately completing work orders, BOMs, data inputs within ERP system.
  • Reading and understanding Commercial, FAA, EASA, Repair Station, and ISO documentations and other related materials.
  • Operating, maintaining and servicing specialized equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
