About The Position

Coastal Health is seeking a motivated and compassionate Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to join our outpatient clinical team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality patient care under the guidance and collaboration of physicians, supporting our mission to deliver comprehensive and patient-centered healthcare. Position Overview The APRN will be responsible for evaluating patients, diagnosing conditions, developing treatment plans, and prescribing medications within the scope of practice. This role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced outpatient setting.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • Current Florida Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility
  • Current or eligible certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
  • Minimum of 1–3 years of experience in an outpatient clinical setting (required)
  • Current state registered nurse license.
  • Current state license as an advanced registered nurse practitioner with prescriptive authority.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Knowledge of advanced practice of nursing including medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology and therapeutics, basic nutrition, behavioral factors, psychosocial/family systems, diagnostic testing, interpretation of results and clinical decision making, alternative treatment modalities.
  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices and regulations related to evaluating and providing patient care, and professional ethics related to the delivery of nursing care.
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments used to administer patient care.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish/maintain a safe work environment.
  • Knowledge of health promotion, health risk identification, and patient education principles and techniques.
  • Knowledge of community, professional, and educational resources.
  • Knowledge of practice management systems including electronic health record systems (EHRs).
  • Skill in oral and written communication; interviewing to gather medical histories; providing presentations, consultations, facilitation, and documentation, e.g., writing medical orders, patient education materials, and medical record updates.
  • Skill in case management, time management, problem solving, crisis intervention, multitasking, and other organizational matters.
  • Skill in modifying methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide appropriate nursing care and in initiating appropriate emergency response and investigatory procedures.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and draw conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, clinical staff, and the public.
  • Ability to competently use Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and appropriate practice management software.
  • Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with a Nurse Practitioner such as standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
  • Requires correct vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires working under stress in emergency situations and occasionally may involve irregular working hours.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum three years of professional nursing experience in a clinic setting, plus two years of nurse practitioner experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, including physical examinations and health assessments
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests and lab results
  • Diagnose medical conditions and develop appropriate treatment plans
  • Prescribe medications and administer treatments, including pain-related therapies and injections
  • Monitor patient therapies and provide continuity of care
  • Consult and collaborate with physicians on complex or non-routine cases
  • Triage patient calls and assess clinical concerns via phone
  • Respond to medical emergencies, including performing CPR when necessary
  • Counsel patients and families on preventive care, wellness, and disease management
  • Accurately document patient care and clinical findings in the medical record
  • Assist in maintaining clinical data or departmental statistics as required
