About The Position

The Family Practice APRN will be responsible for providing telemedicine urgent visit exams and other specialized telemedicine visits for approved protocols. The APRN would be scheduled to staff the urgent care telemedicine visits 7/365 from 8a-8p. The Family Practice APRN is responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the philosophy and policies of the UAMS Institute for Digital Health & Innovation and the missions of UAMS. A Family Practice Certified Advanced Practice Registered Nurse is an advanced practice nurse with clinical expertise in the evaluation of adults, infants, children and adolescents and who has attained national certification and has successfully completed an organized program of nursing education that certifies for an advanced practice role as an APRN in family medicine.

Requirements

  • Master of Nursing from an accredited school/college of Nursing
  • 2 Years of APRN experience in Family Practice Clinical Setting
  • RN license (AR or Compact state)
  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Practitioner (APRN) Family Practice Certification.
  • Must have AR APRN license at the time of hire.
  • Prescriptive authority certificate (DEA License)
  • Ability to communicate and interpret complex written and verbal messages.
  • Complex reasoning, judgment, problem-solving and calculations required.
  • Strong patient advocacy and patient education skills; basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Identify digital technology requirements needed for population
  • Know digital technology strengths, limitations and resources for help
  • Operate digital scheduling component
  • Operate assigned digital equipment (cart/iPad/phone/touch screen)
  • Demonstrate proper etiquette during digital patient interactions
  • Obtain a relevant health and medical history
  • Perform a physical examination based on age and history
  • Conduct preventive screening procedures based on age and history
  • Identify medical and health risks and needs
  • Update and record changes in health status
  • Formulate appropriate differential diagnosis based on history, physical examination and clinical findings
  • Identify the needs of the individual, family, or community as a result of evaluation of collected data
  • Order appropriate diagnostic tests
  • Identify appropriate pharmacologic agents or non-pharmacologic therapies according to the accompanying collaborating physician approved protocol
  • Provide relevant patient education
  • Make appropriate referrals to other health professionals and community agencies and a Emergency plan if warranted
  • Determine effectiveness of the plan of care through documentation of client care outcomes
  • Reassess and modify the plan as necessary to achieve medical and health goals
  • Participate in quality assurance review including systematic review of records, treatment plans and prescriptive practice
  • Follow physician directed treatment protocols recommended to patients, based on the nuances of the specific disease
  • Manage population specific problems, interventions and post treatment care
  • May perform other duties as assigned consistent with knowledge and experience
