About The Position

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is seeking an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) for their Pediatric Neurology NICU team. This role involves providing specialized care to pediatric patients and their families, with a focus on neurology patients within the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and in outpatient clinic settings. The APRN will act as a clinical resource, collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care. Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program with at least a Master’s in Nursing.
  • National Certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.
  • May have a certification as a Pediatric Nurse practitioner in either acute or primary care.
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct clinical services for patients according to established protocols and utilizing evidence-based clinical practice standards in collaboration with a physician.
  • Obtain patient health histories, complete physical examinations, and interpret hemodynamic data.
  • Document pertinent normal and abnormal findings.
  • Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests.
  • Formulate and implement a treatment plan for the management of acute and chronic illnesses in collaboration with the physician.
  • Document in medical records appropriately.
  • Provide family-centered care to meet the child’s health care needs.
  • Utilize current research and evidence-based decision-making in all clinical practice.
  • Participate in staff education and educate other APRN/PA students, residents, and/or fellows.
  • Provide leadership and professional interaction within your team or to team members.
  • Coordinate with families the care and progress of their child in person, by telephone, or by email as appropriate.
  • Communicate with others with mutual respect and professional demeanor.
  • Adhere to all standard policies and procedures.
  • Participate in QI or research projects as deemed necessary by your department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
